I got a call the other day from a Latin woman who is in the U.S. illegally and has five U.S. born children. This woman was getting Medicaid for her children and Legal Aid was filing her paper work. She was terrified that she would be deported if Legal Aid told the truth about her children getting medicaid.
I told her that she shouldn't be afraid of telling the truth about her children's Medicaid. I told her that she shouldn't try to cover up anything. I told her that if she got caught trying to fraud the U.S. Government she will certainly be deported and never have a chance to re-enter the U.S.
As it turns out, she included the fact that her children receive Medicaid and she got her Green Card anyway.
